Olivier Garcé and Clio Dimofski opened Garcé & Dimofski’s studio and gallery in a 19th-century Pombaline building in Lisbon. They bring a rigorous, architectural eye to furniture that never strays far from the earth it comes from — chestnut, walnut, pine and clay, shaped by hand with Portuguese craftsmen who have spent lifetimes mastering their materials.
Andrin is a unique piece: an oak frame stretched with linen canvas that has been hand-painted and deliberately crackled, so the surface reads almost like aged parchment rather than fabric. Because the crackle finish is worked by hand, the pattern of fine cracks across the canvas will never repeat, which is part of what makes this particular screen a one-off rather than an edition.
