Recycled Glass Piece 15

Les MétamorFoses is a French nonprofit uniting artistic upcycling and craftsmanship, transforming imperfect materials — offcuts and leftovers from France’s most prestigious luxury workshops — into signed, one-of-a-kind works.

Recycled Glass Piece 15 is among the most chromatically ambitious of François Azambourg’s 35-piece series for Les MétamorFoses, layering red, purple, yellow and blue within a single hand-blown vessel made entirely from recycled glass reclaimed from workshop surplus.

The overlapping colors swirl and pool unpredictably as the molten glass was shaped, a direct result of the material’s recycled origin, which resists the perfect uniformity of virgin glass. The piece stands as a small manifesto for the nonprofit’s founding belief that beauty can be found, not manufactured, in what other workshops discard.
