The name Maison Intègre, or “House of the Honest,” reflects both the ethical sourcing of its materials and the country’s reputation as the land of upright people. The atelier has collaborated with François Champsaur and Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance, and partnered with Saint Laurent Rive Droite.
The Zaka Lamp, designed by Ambre Jarno, founder of Maison Intègre, is not just a lamp. It takes the shape of the traditional kiln used to burn out wax in the lost-wax casting process, a form Jarno observed daily in her Ouagadougou workshop. Here, fire is replaced by light, transforming the humble architecture of the foundry into a quiet meditation on the creative fire of the atelier itself.
Cast by hand in satin bronze from recycled metals, the lamp bears the fingerprints of the Burkinabé craftsmen who shape it, each one unique in silhouette and surface tone. Because no mold is reused twice, the curve of one Zaka Lamp will always differ slightly from the next, a reminder that every piece is born from the same fire that inspired it.
Inspired by the shapes of customary and traditional objects from the West African cultural heritage, Maison Intègre creates original, imaginative designs. By revisiting the region’s traditional crafts and inviting designers and artists in the likes of François Champsaur to partake into a creative adventure, the ancestral know-how of bronze casting takes on a new life. Ambre spends most of her time in Burkina Faso as her relentless hands-on approach is crucial to the design and production of each piece. Her strong commitment to local artisanship, combined with an array of unique collaborations, is at the core of creating bronze objects that are utterly contemporary, yet exquisitely traditional.
