Mmairo is a marble atelier based in Carrara, its name drawn from the ancient Greek marmairo, meaning ‘to shine.’
“The sculptor doesn’t try to translate his thought into marble: he thinks in marble, directly, as if everything were already marble,” wrote André Gide, a line that could stand as the mission statement of Jacopo Simonetti’s Reef collection for Mmairo, the Carrara marble atelier whose name comes from the ancient Greek marmairo, meaning to shine. The Reef Table Lamp distills that philosophy into its most compact form within the family, an intimate rock formation scaled for a bedside table or console.
Like its siblings in the Reef series, the lamp is worked from richly veined natural marble, its stratified surface left to catch light unevenly the way a real outcrop would, so that no two lamps ever glow in quite the same way. Produced start to finish within Mmairo’s own workshops in the Apuan Alps, with bespoke dimensions and finishes available on request, the Reef Table Lamp brings the drama of a coastal rock formation into the quiet scale of everyday lighting.
MMairo designs and creates high quality marble objects in Carrara, the world’s marble capital, where they were established in 2016. The products are made using the highest quality marbles, hand finished by skilled local artisans and with a high market positioning.
