The Illusion mirror by Philippe Hurel x TMJ Design Studio is all about the true purpose of a mirror: image, imitation and reflection. A reflection delimited by a frame, the one of the mirror itself. But here, the frame remains open on one side, as if to let the reflected image escape. The first inspiration is the natural swimming pool of the Bon-Secours beach in Saint-Malo, this unique water mirror that plays with the sea and extends with the tide. The sky and the landscape are reflected in it, creating a dreamlike and disturbing decor. A hybrid and sculptural object, both mirror and console, Illusion plays with the contrast of textures and colors, a celadon Washi lacquer frame combined with a sanded larch shelf, for a very soft rendering.
