Édition 1.6.9 is a Paris house devoted entirely to the art of the hand-tufted rug. Every design passes through the same couture-inspired process, with artistic direction by Marie Bastide translating raw fibre into pattern, texture and, ultimately, atmosphere underfoot.

The Matala Rug takes its name from a mineral-inspired vocabulary the house returns to often, hand-tufted in bamboo silk and semi-worsted wool for a surface that catches light in soft, shifting sheens. The interplay between the silk’s natural lustre and the wool’s matte density gives the rug a quiet depth, as though its pattern were still settling into place.

Each rug is handcrafted by skilled artisans who master ancestral techniques such as hand knotting, weaving, and tufting. Due to its handmade nature, there may be slight variations in size and colour, and the patterns may adjust proportionally when the rug is scaled to different sizes. Colours are subject to sample approval and colours shown may vary with lighting and environment.
