For Mmairo, Ivan Colominas designs across scales, from tabletop objects to full furniture pieces, consistently returning to a belief that marble should feel sculptural yet entirely useful, never merely decorative.
The Altana Large Table by Ivan Colominas for Mmairo takes its name and form from the turret-like rooftop terraces found on Renaissance homes, translating that historic vantage point into a table design that accepts no boundaries, round on every side, with no beginning and no end. A solid volume acts as the base, supporting a flat tabletop that Colominas describes as a depiction of the terrace from which objects can survey their surroundings without ever risking a fall.
Pictured here in black marble, the Altana Large Table is also available in rosso marble and in travertine, with bespoke dimensions and finishes made to order within Mmairo’s own Carrara workshops. Whichever stone is chosen, the table’s continuous, unbroken curve lets the marble’s natural veining travel seamlessly around its full circumference, reinforcing the sense of an object without a fixed front or back.
MMairo designs and creates high quality marble objects in Carrara, the world’s marble capital, where they were established in 2016. The products are made using the highest quality marbles, hand finished by skilled local artisans and with a high market positioning.
