Named simply “flat plate,” the piece states its own ambition: a single disc of solid marble, cut and finished with no ornament to distract from the stone itself. Ivan Colominas, working through his Mmairo studio, treats marble as sculptural material rather than surface decoration — the block is solid-turned and polished to a continuous, unbroken plane, letting the stone’s veining stand as the only pattern. Offered in Bianco Michelangelo, Bianco Carrara, or Nero Marquinia, each choice carries its own character: the Carrara softly grey-veined, the Michelangelo brighter and more graphic, the Nero Marquinia dense and near-black with fine white striation. Part of a numbered series of Piatto Piano plates, it sits equally well as a serving piece or as sculptural tableware on a console or dining table where the marble itself is the point.
