The Glazed Stool Model One carries the maker’s mark of Studio Floris Wubben, who has spent over a decade re-engineering industrial extrusion machines by hand in his Haarlem workshop, then lets them behave unpredictably, treating each pull of clay or resin as a negotiation between human intention and mechanical chance.

Hand-thrown through Wubben’s own extrusion press and finished in glazed stoneware, this piece is shown here in sand-toned L32, with a deep L12 forest green also on offer. The clay is coaxed rather than moulded, so the stool’s twisted silhouette locks in every ridge and irregularity left by the machine’s grip, and because each piece is fired individually, dimensions can shift by up to ten percent, a variance the studio treats as proof of the object’s origin rather than a flaw to be corrected.
