Studio Floris Wubben approaches ceramics like an engineer solving a problem: by building a machine that has never existed. The Wonky Eighty Side Table emerges from this workshop culture, where custom extrusion presses coax stoneware and resin into forms no mould could produce, each one bearing the trace of its own making.
The largest of the three Wonky side tables, this piece is glazed in a deep forest tone and carries the series’ loosened extrusion process to its most dramatic scale, the stoneware column leaning and swelling as though caught mid-motion. It is the clearest statement of the Wonkies’ ambition: to let the machine’s clay move further from human guidance than any of Studio Floris Wubben’s earlier work allowed.
