Long before ‘craft’ became a marketing word, De La Espada was quietly building furniture the hard way. Founded by Fátima de la Espada and Luís de Oliveira, the company grew out of a small family carpentry business in Spain into one of the most respected names in contemporary solid-wood furniture, collaborating over the years with Luca Nichetto, Neri & Hu, Jason Miller and Matthew Hilton. Every piece is still made at their own production facility on Portugal’s Silver Coast, in walnut, oak or ash, oiled and finished by hand.
The rattan Throne bar stool is upholstered in Kvadrat’s Phlox fabric in colour 243 on a base in white oiled oak and rattan, also available in ash or walnut, and is also pictured in Danish oiled walnut with the same Phlox fabric and in black oiled ash upholstered in Kvadrat’s Safire fabric. It carries the Throne family’s woven rattan detailing all the way up to bar height.
