De La Espada’s founders, Fátima de la Espada and Luís de Oliveira, came to furniture almost by accident — a family carpentry workshop in Spain that became a design house shown in London, New York and Milan. Their approach has never changed: honest joinery, solid timber, and a roster of collaborators — from Luca Nichetto to Anthony Guerrée — invited to draw pieces that respect the material as much as the form. Production stays in-house, at their own solar-powered workshop on Portugal’s Silver Coast.
The rattan Throne dining chair is upholstered here in Kvadrat’s Moss fabric in colour 005, its structure combining Danish oiled oak with woven rattan, also available in ash or walnut, bringing the same lighter, more breathable texture as its lounge chair sibling into a dining-height format. The rattan panel is worked entirely by hand, so its weave will vary subtly from chair to chair.
