Founded by Guillaume Galloy and Bruce Ribay, Noma Editions takes its name from ‘NOble MAterials’, reworking recycled steel, reclaimed wood and repurposed plastics into furniture worthy of the finest ateliers, without ever hiding where the material came from.
The Laime armchair, designed by Charlotte Juillard for Noma Editions, reimagines the French bergère through the lens of noble materials. Built around a structure of recycled tubular steel, the piece stages a quiet tension: a cushioned seat that appears to slide and overhang between the metal tubes, held by what Juillard calls a ‘pinched effect’ that lends the whole its generosity.
Upholstered in undyed French wool alongside leather details in natural or black tones, Laime is made of 42% recycled materials without ever announcing itself as such. Pictured here with a Blue Sapphire structure and Arpin Drap de Bonneval wool, the armchair also comes in Terre de Sienne red or Black Satin, each combination proving that responsible design can be quietly luxurious.
