Every design begins as a drawing in the Paris studio, then travels to Vastrakala, the maison’s atelier in Chennai, where more than 270 artisans hand-embroider each piece using techniques passed down through generations, the same expertise once called upon to restore the gilded interiors of the Château de Versailles.
The Candy Apple Cushion by Lesage Intérieurs is round, generous and joyful, its glossy surface built from raffia, tiny wooden beads and ivory-toned beading worked entirely by hand. The outline of the design borrows from sublime Elizabethan embroidery, proof that the maison’s needle can turn a single playful motif into a rigorous exercise in texture and craft.
