The studio’s best-known creation, the Panther Sofa and Armchair, channels the panther motif that has defined Cartier’s jewelry house for nearly a century into upholstered form. Its Sévigné and Luco collections draw on literary and geographic Parisian references, the same instinct for storytelling carried into every material choice.
The Sévigné Mini Daybed condenses the literary ease of its full-size sibling into a more compact form, still carrying the name of Madame de Sévigné and the conversational, unhurried spirit Studioparisien attached to the collection, but scaled for smaller rooms, alcoves or a single reader rather than an entire salon.
Upholstered in Dedar’s Karakorum fabric in ivory over a polywood structure with beech reinforcements, and shown here with its cushions included, the daybed keeps the same soft, enveloping profile as the original Sévigné piece, proving the design loses none of its ease when its scale is reduced.
Laurène Barbier Tardrew, an interior architect and designer trained at Penninghen, and Romain Jourdan, a scenographer and designer, met while working on their first project for a French luxury house — a collaboration they describe as “a true revelation.” Their partnership quickly proved fluid and effervescent, nourished by their complementary sensibilities. Together they develop expressive, elegant and contemporary spaces that highlight the excellence of French craftsmanship and reflect a singular language where refined aesthetics meet a form of precious brutalism.
