Stories Exhibitions Invisible Collection x Mobilier national

An exhibition of limited-edition pieces by up-and-coming French talents who were chosen to enrich Mobilier National’s collections. Discover the fresh, intriguing designs that caught our attention and are now available through us.

To celebrate Paris Design Week, we present a one-of-a-kind exhibition that brings together new designs from Le Mobilier national’s collections, handpicked for their relevance, and iconic furniture pieces from our star designers. Set in the magical salons of Féau Boiseries, the exhibition is staged by the talented Hamrei and includes a special installation by Dedar, the Italian fabric manufacturer who is a longstanding partner of Invisible Collection. With over one hundred designs – including rugs, ceramics, and decorative objects – the show is a curated display of the new French aesthetic we’ve become known for, with different styles seamlessly merging in a sophisticated atmosphere of quiet luxury.

Over time, collectors and design enthusiasts have become familiar with Mobilier national. Tasked with the preservation of heritage furniture since the 17th century, this revered French institution is now focused on seeking out emerging talents through its Campagne d’acquisition. Each year, a new crop of designers is called to enrich its collections with new limited-edition pieces – some of which were presented at the latest edition of Design Miami/. Cementing our role as the leading brand for carrying forward a contemporary French aesthetic rooted in the tradition of the decorative arts, we’ve partnered with Mobilier national to introduce a selection of the most relevant designs from their Campagne d’acquisition on our platform. Some of these pieces will be looked at in the future as iconic signifiers of the distinctive French aesthetic that has been inspiring interior designers across the globe for over one hundred years.

Highlights from the exhibition include the fascinating Rhizome bookcase by Pierre Bonnefille, a striking work reminiscent of a tridimensional kanji; the Canné Armchair by Tim Leclabart, a gracefully geometric piece defined by its curved structure; and the Cosse Light by Ludovic Roth, an aerial design defined by a four-sided metal core sheathed in handstitched leather. Many designers from Mobilier national’s offering worked around arguably the most familiar and beloved furniture piece of all, the chair. The Riviera Chair by Jean-Baptiste Sénéquier is a lovely reinterpretation of traditional woven straw chairs, a classic that resonates in our collective unconscious; whereas Jean-Baptiste Anotin created two specular armchairs made of metal, defined by acute angles and sharp lines.

The scenography was authored by Hamrei, a talented designer who recently joined Invisible Collection. In the entrancing salons of Féau, he found the perfect balance between the incredible backdrop of antique paneling and gilded ceilings, and the ultra-contemporary designs. Alongside Hamrei’s new debut pieces, visitors can discover a host of creations from our star designers such as Fleur Delesalle, Laura Gonzalez, Thierry Lemaire, Studioparisien, and Pietro Franceschini, to name a few. The space is subtly elevated with a special installation by Dedar. The beloved textile manufacturer from the lake of Como is a longstanding friend and partner of Invisible Collection. For this event, the Italian brand conceived a Daedalus-inspired interplay of threads and fabrics running through the labyrinthine salons of Féau.

In addition, Dedar dressed some designs with their bespoke fabrics, giving them a new alluring look. We hope you’ll be able to visit our exhibition, exceptionally open by appointment only during Paris Design Week. In the meantime, discover the full list of designs on show here.
